Days Out in East Yorkshire

Whether you love the buzz of the city or the peace and serenity of the countryside, there is never a dull moment in East Yorkshire.

East Yorkshire is home to miles of breathtaking scenery and Hull, the UK City of Culture 2017. You’ll be positively spoilt for choice. We’ve rounded up a few ideas for what to do during your days out in East Yorkshire, including great activities for the whole family.

Bridlington

Bridlington is a beautiful coastal town and the perfect place to spend the day, or maybe even two! There’s plenty to see and do, in and around the area.

Bondville Model Village

A hit with children and adults alike, you’ll be fascinated by the intricate detail on display in over 200 model buildings, which include a castle, harbour and Abbey ruins. The village even has a working train and harbour. It really must be seen to be believed. The village is open from March to September.

Bridlington South Beach

If you’re in search of miles of clean, white sand, look no further than Bridlington South Beach. The children will love the Kiddies’ Corner, just past the Spa Royal Hall, where there are rides and slides to keep them occupied.

Deckchairs are available for hire and there are plenty of places to grab a snack, as well as an onsite restaurant.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens

Set in 50 acres, Sewerby Hall and Gardens is not only beautiful but contains a hive of activity for the whole family.

The kids will love the adventure playground and there are plenty more outdoor activities to keep them occupied, including sports.

Why not see if your golf skills are up to par and head for the pitch and putt course? For the animal-lovers in your group, Sewerby Zoo will be a real treat. The llamas who live there are particularly popular. Finally, you can hop on the Seafront Train which takes you right back to the beach!

Yorkshire Wolds

Rolling countryside, beautiful scenery and peace and quiet. What could be better? However you choose to explore the Yorkshire Wolds, it’s the perfect place to hit refresh and relax.

If you want to walk the Wolds, follow the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail. Along the way, you’ll discover villages and market towns, such as Pocklington (known as ‘the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds’), where you can stop and refuel. Be sure to plan your route in advance, as the trail is 80 miles long.

Foodies will definitely want to pay Malton a visit; the town hosts a spectacular monthly food market, featuring artisan makers whose wares include stone-baked pizza, gin, baked goods and ice cream.

Hull

There’s a plethora of things to do in Hull but here are a couple of our favourites…

Streetlife Museum of Transport

This makes for a fabulous family day out. Step back in time and see transport from hundreds of years ago up close. Visitors can walk down a 1940’s street, experience a carriage ride and even hop aboard a tram!

East Park

Nothing beats the simple pleasure of a day in the park. At East Park, you’ll find cycle paths, a children’s play area, a café and even an Animal Education Centre. Don’t forget to pack a picnic!

However you choose to spend your days out in East Yorkshire, you will have a relaxing, fun and even educational time.
