The village is only 5 miles from the large town of Chesterfield, with its famous Crooked Spire, which means you are close enough to enjoy the town attractions and still escape to the countryside for a good night's sleep. The city of Sheffield is slightly further away and can provide a diversion with theatres, museums, shopping and other city centre attractions. Being within the borders of the Peak District National Park, there are many opportunities for walking nearby as well as cycling, climbing and other country pursuits. There are several picturesque villages to explore, including nearby Bakewell, famous for the eponymous tarts.
